Car Insurance Porsche (Car Insurance). My gears got shifted a little bit? someone help!?

My gears got shifted a little bit? someone help!? When I got into my explorer leaving work today, i noticed that when I went from park to reverse, it wasn't lined up right on the P or R, for park it was in between the P and R, for reverse it was between the R and N, and so fourth. It still drives fine, but it wasn't like this earlier today. Does ANYBODY know what could be the cause of this!?

It depends on the year of explorer, More than likely it is the PRNDL cable out of adjustment. the cable attaches to the shift lever bowl on the steering column, just under the instrument cluster...very easy to get to. just remove 1 piece of trim to adjust typically.

Porsche . How to Remove and Change Car Battery Terminals

Replacing battery terminals is not a common automotive repair but it does happen on occasion if the battery is neglected. Corrosion buildup is one of the leading causes to require battery terminals to be replaced. There are a few different styles of terminal clamps that require different procedures to replace them but the overall concept is the same.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Box-end wrench set
Ratchet and socket set
Wire cutters
Battery specific terminal replacements
Channel locks
Heavy gauge butt connector crimpsTop Post Battery

Step by Step :
1
Open the hood and then disconnect the black-wired negative battery terminal clamp from the battery first. Use a box-end wrench or a ratchet and socket.
2
Disconnect the red-wired positive battery terminal clamp next.
3
Use a pair of wire cutters to snip off the clamp if the wires run inside the lead terminal clamp with no disconnection option. Some top post terminals will feature retaining screw clamps. For this style, simply use the wrenches or ratchet and a suitably sized socket to remove the retaining screws and then remove the clamp from the wire.
4
Snip the exposed wires back with the wire cutters if necessary to remove any corroded ends on the wires. Strip the plastic wire covering, if there is one, to expose the open wire to the battery terminal. Be sure to leave enough room on the wire to attach to the clamp and properly reach the battery top post.
5
Reattach the replacement battery terminal. Most replacement terminals do not require internal connection of the battery wires. Simply place the exposed wire inside the retaining clamp and tighten the retaining bolts.
6
Install the red-wired positive battery terminal first and then the black-wired negative battery terminal next. Be sure to tighten the clamps so they're not loose on the battery post.
Side Post Battery Terminals

Step by Step :
1
Remove the black-wired negative battery terminal from the battery side post first. Use a wrench or a ratchet and socket.
2
Remove the lead battery bolt from the battery terminal by prying it out with a pair of channel locks. Pull the black covering off the terminal and then cut the wire below the clamp with a pair of wire cutters.
3
Repeat Step 2 for the red-wired positive side post terminal.
4
Insert the exposed wire into the replacement terminal and then crimp the end tightly against the wire with the heavy gauge wire crimps. Replace the red plastic terminal covering and then insert the lead battery bolt into the terminal. Use the channel locks to help but be careful not to mar the hex-headed end of the lead bolt. Repeat this step for the black-wired negative terminal.
5
Install the red positive terminal to the battery first and then tighten the battery lead with a wrench or socket and ratchet. Install the black negative terminal last and tighten the battery lead.

Porsche . How to Change Your Car Battery Terminals

Automotive electrical systems depend on a good electrical connection to the battery for proper operation. Because the battery serves as the grounding point and the source for ignition power, the electrical connections--the battery terminal connectors--must be in good condition, and must fit the battery posts snugly.

Terminal connectors can oxidize, decreasing the conductivity of the battery terminals. A completely oxidized connector will fail to provide the electrical system with a good electrical path to the battery, which can cause charging and starting problems. Replacing bad battery terminal connectors is one way to keep an automobile running properly.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Electrical pliers
Soldering iron and solder
Brass or copper replacement battery terminal connectors
Baking soda
8 oz. cups, 2
Old toothbrush
16 oz. of water
Paper towels or old rags
Petroleum jelly
Adjustable wrench

Step by Step :
1
Hold the retaining bolt for the negative (black) battery cable terminal connector with your electrical pliers. Loosen the retaining nut on the negative battery cable and disconnect the terminal connector from the battery post. Hold the retaining bolt for the positive (red) terminal connector and loosen the retaining nut on the positive battery cable. Remove the cable from the positive battery post.
2
Snip the battery terminals off with your pliers. Strip the battery cable wires of 1/2 inch of insulation. Loosen the top bolts on one of the new battery terminals. Insert the stripped positive battery cable into the receiver hole created by loosening the battery terminal connector top bolts. Solder the cable to the battery terminal. Tighten the top bolts on the positive battery cable terminal.
3
Loosen the top bolts on the remaining new battery terminal. Insert the stripped negative battery cable into the receiver hole and solder the cable to the battery terminal. Tighten the top bolts on the negative battery cable terminal.
4
Put 1 tbsp. of baking soda in a cup. Fill the cup with water and mix. Pour half this mixture on the positive battery post and half on the negative battery post. Brush the posts with a toothbrush. Pour 8 oz. of water into another cup and rinse the terminals. Clean and dry the posts with paper towels or rags.
5
Coat the battery posts and the exposed metal parts of the battery terminal connectors with a thin film of petroleum jelly. Install the positive (red) battery cable on the positive battery post. Connect the negative (black) battery cable to the negative battery post. Tighten the terminal retaining nuts so that the terminals fit snugly on the posts.

system. 1. To stop your car, you step on the brake pedal. 2. The brake pedal pushes against another piston in a cylinder located under the hood of your car. This is called the master cylinder, and it is filled with a liquid called brake fluid. 3. When the piston in the master cylinder is pushed by your brake pedal, it forces the brake fluid out of the master cylinder into tubes called brake lines, which run to each wheel of your car. 254 Car Insurance chevrolet silverado 1500 extended cab 2001 longbed 28452

4. The wheel has either a disc brake or a drum brake. To keep it simple, I'll just look at disc brakes here. (Drum brakes work on the same general principles; see Chapter 10.) A disc brake is composed of a flat steel disc (surprise!) sandwiched between a pair of calipers, as shown in Figure 4-13. These calipers contain one or more little pistons that are forced into the disc by the brake fluid. Part II: What Makes It Go?. Figure 4-13: Atypical disc brake. 5. Brake pads located between the disc and the pistons grab the disc with their rough asbestos surfaces and force the disc to stop turning. This forces the wheel to stop turning. When the wheels stop turning, the car comes to a stop. 6.

When you take your foot off the brake pedal, the whole process is reversed: The brake pads release their hold on the disc, the fluid moves back up the brake lines to the master cylinder, and the wheels can turn freely again. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on most new vehicles. Other vehicles have disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes on the rear wheels. A few older cars have drum brakes all around. Chapter 10 tells you all about both kinds of brakes and how power brakes and parking brakes work, and Chapter 18 shows you how to check the brake system on your car to see whether it's in good shape and how to do simple brake work. Now that you've got the general picture of how the various systems in your car work together, the rest of this part goes into detail about each system. Then Part III shows you how to keep each automotive system functioning smoothly with simple maintenance and easy repairs. If your car is behaving erratically, check out Chapter 20 for a guide to various symptoms and what they mean. If you encounter something that you can't handle, Chapter 22 tells you how to find a good service facility and become its favorite customer.
